Vintage Mid Century 18k Solid Gold Opal Cabochon Tie Clip
$545.00
This is a stunning mid century tie clip in solid gold with the most beautiful opal cabochon! The clip is a lovely rich high karat gold and the opal is outstanding. As you may know if you've bought opals in the past, they are extremely camera shy, but this one has beautiful blue, green, and orange flash! This is such a classic, heirloom piece and would make a lovely wedding accessory!
The clip is marked K18 on the reverse and tests for solid 18k gold. The clip itself is in perfect condition; however, the safety chain has been repaired and there is small solder mark. The clip measures 1.1 cm x 4.4. cm (or 0.43 inches x 1.73 inches). It weighs a total of 4.48 grams.
An important note - there is a saying that genuine gold will never tarnish, but that is simply not true. As with any metal, gold will tarnish with time. The reason that people believe this is that gold takes much longer than silver to tarnish; it may take 60 or even 100 years. But eventually, a patina will develop.
As this is an antique piece, I have left the gold patina intact, but if you would like, it can be easily polished away. This clip is tested and guaranteed to be solid gold.
