This is a beautiful Navajo brooch created using a sandcast technique! It features an unusual motif, a butterfly! And this is one of the largest examples of a butterfly design that I've ever seen. This brooch was clearly hand crafted with a lot of care and attention to detail and it's a lovely example of Navajo silver work.
The brooch is signed "Sterling" on the back. There is a small sandcasting flaw and a tiny abrasion on the top of the butterfly's head, but it is otherwise in excellent vintage condition. The brooch measures 6 cm x 4 cm (or 1.58 inches x 2.63 inches). It weighs a total of 17.81 grams.
