Victorian Era Rare Tunisian Sterling Silver Coin Button Studs
$93.00
This is a pair of beautiful Victorian era button studs made from unusual Tunisian coins! The script on these coins is Arabic. They are 2 Kharub coins, and date to just a few years before Tunisia became a French protectorate in 1881. One coin is from 1871, the other is most likely from 1875; it's a little more difficult to read, but it dates between 1872 and 1879 for certain. The coins are lovely and have lots of beautiful details. These are a very interesting piece of history!
Both button studs test as solid sterling silver; the coins themselves may be a bit less, around 900 silver (typical for coins). Each coin measures 3.1 cm (or 1.22 inches) in diameter. Both button studs together weigh 24.64.
