Early Mexican Sterling Spratling Style Pendant / Brooch

This is a very bold and quirky early Mexican brooch and pendant combination! The piece is made with a large central disk or medallion with the design of a plant in the center. This pendant was made in Taxco and is signed accordingly!

The pendant is stamped with the eagle mark and "STERLING 925 V.A. TAXCO HECHO EN MEXICO". The pin stem is bent, but functional and there is some light surface wear, but it's otherwise in excellent vintage condition. The chain is stamped "925 Italy". The pendant measures 4.4 cm in diameter (or 1.73 inches). The chain is 55.8 cm (or 22 inches). The necklace as a whole weighs a total of 19.78 grams.
