Antique Overlay Engraved Eye Motif Pearl Drop Necklace

This is a beautiful and unusual necklace and the origins are a bit of a mystery! I found this piece on a trip to Guatemala, but I'm inclined to think it's not Guatemalan. It doesn't look like any of the other jewelry pieces I saw on that trip, and it reminds me a little of Navajo and Mexican silver jewelry I've seen in the past. Nevertheless, it is a stunning piece!

There is light surface wear and patina to the necklace (and the drops were a later addition), but otherwise it's in excellent vintage condition. The pendant measures 2.2 cm x 4.1 cm (or 0.87 inches by 1.6 inches). The chain is 45.72 cm (or 18 inches). The necklace weighs 3.83 grams in total.
